New York Liberty Launch Inaugural “Season of Giving” Community Gifting Campaign
The New York Liberty successfully launched its first-ever “Season of Giving” community gifting campaign, where the team and nine of its corporate partners teamed up to provide gifts to community organizations throughout the five boroughs for the holiday season.
The program was designed to encompass each of the Liberty’s social responsibility pillars, “BEUP”, including growing youth basketball, embracing young women, championing unity, and promoting Pride.
New York’s partners, including Xbox, Wilson, BioSteel, Hero Cosmetics, Snipes, SeatGeek, HSS, Webull, and Withings, collaborated to gift products, resources, and experiences to benefit the following community organizations and their members:
Basketball
Xbox gifted five custom Liberty-branded Xbox Series S consoles to a community center in each of New York City’s boroughs:
- Brooklyn: Major Owens Community Center
- Manhattan: The Boys & Girls Club of Harlem
- Queens: Greater Ridgewood Youth Council
- Bronx: BronxWorks
- Staten Island: JCC Cornerstone Gerard Carter Center (donation to be made in January)
Wilson, the Official Basketball of the WNBA, gifted 50 new basketballs for the community centers across the five boroughs; many of whom did not previously have access to dedicated equipment for their centers.
BioSteel, the official sports hydration partner of the Liberty, shipped over 1,500 sports drinks to the five community centers, providing their members with Clean. Healthy Hydration.™ for basketball and other activities.
Embrace
Hero Cosmetics donated 300 skincare items to Womankind community members. Womankind serves survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual violence of all ages.
Unity
Snipes donated 400 coats and 1,200 pairs of socks to residents of The Bowery Mission through their We Out Here community program that identifies and gives assistance to underserved communities. The Bowery Mission serves vulnerable New Yorkers, providing services that meet their immediate needs and transforms their lives from poverty.
SeatGeek hosted an exclusive suite night experience for the participants of Vera Institute of Justice at the Brooklyn Nets’ game on December 2. Vera aims to zero out the incarceration of girls and gender-expansive youth in the country’s juvenile legal system.
In continuation of the team’s season of giving, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) has partnered with Wellfare, a NYC-based food non-profit, along with the Liberty and Nets to supply underserved communities with “Eat & Move Better Boxes”. The boxes provide households with nutritious food as well as fitness and wellness resources to help them achieve a healthy lifestyle. In October, Webull collaborated with the Liberty and Nets to build a brand-new technology hub for Digital Girl, Inc. at Major Owens Community Center in Crown Heights, providing new desktop Macs, PC computers, and a 3D printer for the computer center. To further Webull’s purpose-driven initiatives and the Liberty’s Season of Giving campaign, the teams will continue to uplift local STEM-focused organizations in the new year.
Pride
Withings, a global leader in connected health, donated connected health monitoring products including smart scales, smart blood pressure monitors, and smart thermometers to Callen-Lorde who has facilities in Brooklyn, Chelsea, and the Bronx. Callen-Lorde provides sensitive, quality health care and related services for New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities — in all their diversity — regardless of ability to pay.
