New York Liberty Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day 2025

National Girls and Women in Sports Day was founded in 1987 to celebrate the accomplishments of girls and women in sports. The holiday continues today to champion equality and empower a new generation of athletes.

The New York Liberty, in partnership with LOLA, visited Uncommon Excellence Girls Middle School to host an all-girls clinic in honor of NGWSD. The 180 students participated in a three-part event featuring a basketball skills clinic by Brooklyn Basketball, a vision boarding workshop, and a panel. The vision boards, provided by the WNBA, inspired students to practice setting goals and imagine their limitless futures. The panel featured speakers with diverse backgrounds in girls and women’s sports and focused on empowering girls to practice sports and lead with confidence.
