The New York Liberty complete their 2nd annual “Season of Giving” community giveback campaign this holiday season, with the help of 11 corporate sponsors to provide gifts and experiences for community organizations across the 5 boroughs. Encompassing Liberty’s 4 social responsibility pillars, BEUP, the Liberty and it’s corporate sponsors supported the community in the following ways:

BASKETBALL:

Ticketmaster, the Official Ticketing Partner of the Liberty, hosted a group of 16 young people from Sadie Nash Leadership Project in a luxury suite night during the Brooklyn Nets game on December 2nd. The 2023 WNBA MVP, Breanna Stewart surprised the group and PUMA gifted youth participants PUMA x STEWIE Stewie 2 sneakers. Sadie Nash Leadership Project uses popular education to strengthen, empower, and equip young women and gender-expansive youth of color as agents of change in their lives and in the world.

The Liberty hosted a free community clinic presented by CarMax for 113 children with New Heights Youth at the Major R. Owens Community Center in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. CarMax gifted attendees with t-shirts, tote bags, water bottles, and portable phone chargers. New Heights Youth combines basketball programming with resources to better prepare disadvantaged youth to get into college and transition into adulthood. To support young girls in sports, Best Trails & Travel transported a group of girl athletes from the MS 223 Laboratory School of Finance & Technology in the Bronx to attend the clinic.

EMBRACE

The Liberty and M.M.LaFleur hosted a Lunch and Learn professional development day for 27 aspiring women professionals at Bottomless Closet – an NYC-based organization that provides free resources and tools to empower disadvantaged women across New York City to enter the workforce and succeed. The event featured a panel with New York Liberty CEO, Keia Clarke, and M.M.LaFleur CEO, Sarah LeFleur, discussing their career experiences and advice for working in both sports and fashion.
