In 2016, the New York Liberty launched its inaugural UNITY initiative in response to police brutality and unjust police killings of unarmed black Americans. Since, the annual platform continues to challenge social injustices such as America’s criminal justice system, gun violence, and police brutality by centering unity and equality through several initiatives including workshops, youth basketball clinics, panel discussions, and in-game programming.
